Michelle Dombrosky Launches Campaign for State Board of Education

Olathe -- Michelle Dombrosky, Republican of Olathe, launched her campaign for the State Board of Education in District 3, currently held by John Bacon, who is retiring.

Dombrosky, a wife and mom with a long history of being actively involved in her community and children's education, said in all the talk about formulas and court cases, the focus on students often gets lost.

"A student-focused approach must be the foundation of every decision we make. My overall philsophy is simple: I will do what's best for students, voting in a way that reflects the values and morals of the people who elected me, and working hard to ensure the future is bright for every child in Kansas," said Dombrosky.

She also said that engagement in the education process from families and taxpayers alike is critical.

"From curriculum standards to ensuring local control is more than a political buzzword, families and taxpayers must be involved in the process - and too often they are not. Decisions impacting education are best reached when everyone is involved in the process. That will be something I advocate for on a consistent basis," she said.

The State Board of Education is made of of ten districts, each covering four State Senate districts. District 3 covers the 9th, 21st, 23rd, and 37th Senate districts. Eleven local school districts are within the boundaries of the 3rd District. The Republican Primary is on August 7th.
